Job Description Summary

The Operations Manager will oversee the Technical Department, Floor Operations, and Customer Service team of the Camera Department at Sunbelt Film and TV. This role demands strong leadership, operational expertise, and a commitment to exceptional customer service, ensuring the success of the department and satisfaction of our clients.



Key Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Lead and oversee a team of skilled technical, floor, and customer service staff.
  • Coach and mentor employees to work collaboratively, creating actionable plans for team members to follow.
  • Set clear and measurable objectives for the entire team, regularly reviewing and adjusting staffing levels to meet operational and customer needs.
  • Direct staff in their performance while developing, evaluating, and motivating them.
  • Collaborate with management and Human Resources to identify, interview, and hire potential new employees.
  • Conduct yearly employee reviews for technical and floor teams.

Operations & Safety

  • Oversea the daily operations of the camera Dept including:
  • Follow company policies and procedures to ensure operational success.
  • Liaise daily with the senior members of the camera team regarding technical, floor, inventory and general operations.
  • Manage the provision of technical support and solutions to Directors of Photography (DPs) and production personnel.
  • Administration, including payroll, quotes and contracts, etc
  • Evaluate and streamline departmental systems to enhance productivity and ensure optimal performance, condition, and quality control of Sunbelt Film and TV's inventory of cameras, optics, and accessories.
  • Oversee inventory control and maximize operational efficiencies. Recognize slow-moving assets and initiate action plans for increased activity.

Business Acumen

  • Utilize performance reports to set financial goals, develop strategies, and understand influences on the business's financial aspects.
  • Engage in business decision-making at every level and understand competitor business models to assist in building strategic plans.
  • Create an annual budget and forecast using the company template.

Sales and Customer Service

  • Cultivate strategic customer relationships, ensuring that the customer perspective drives all value-added business activities.
  • Explain billing procedures to customers, developing trust and understanding.
  • Assist customers in determining their rental needs by applying product knowledge.
  • Be available for all client and Sunbelt Film and TV team questions and concerns, fostering strong relationships with clients and industry contacts.
  • Travel locally and nationally as needed to assist in departmental success.
  • Collaborate with the client services team to manage preps, vendor demos, and in-house tests.


Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of related industry experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a camera rental house environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of cinema camera systems (e.g., ARRI, SONY), optics (e.g., Hawk/Vantage, Angenieux, Zeiss, Leitz, Cooke), and camera support accessories.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively an asset.
  • Proven experience managing staff, directing workflow, and promoting growth.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Superior organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and self-direct.
  • Capacity to make independent judgments in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong leadership skills in stressful environments.

Base Pay Range: $76,185.00 - 104,754.10
