Job Description Summary
The Southeast Territory Safety, Health & Environmental Director is responsible for mitigating the organization’s exposure to risk by leading the safety function through loss analysis and loss prevention within their areas of responsibility. This person is responsible for assisting the Southeast Territory, and its Senior Vice President, Regional Vice Presidents and District Managers, at implementing initiatives and managing performance to those initiatives as they relate to the organizational targets.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads and directs department staff to successfully execute all Safety and Health initiatives.
Ensures continual safety improvements and sets annual objectives and targets.
Monitors Safety and Health audit schedules and results.
Manage Early Career Professionals (ECPs) or recent college grads within the Territory
Assist RSMs and Branch Managers to ensure incident investigations are completed within a timely manner according to Sunbelt Rentals Polices. Assist in developing and tracking the appropriate corrective actions.
Analysis of all incidents to identify frequency and severity trends and develop the appropriate loss control treatment.
Assist the EVP of Safety and Health in Policy and Procedure review/revisions.
Assist SVP in adoption of Engage for Life Principles across the Territory.
Interface with Sunbelt University, RSMs as it relates to safety training.
Establish a Territory SH&E Committee.
Hold monthly Safety Coordinator call with Territory coordinators.
Provide weekly report to Territory SVP, SR VPs, RVPs, and DMs summarizing weekly activity.
Ensure that Supervisor Training is being conducted in a timely and efficient manner within the Territory.
Ensures that a consistent Near Miss Reporting Program is used in the territory and branches are provided feedback on a weekly basis regarding the quality and severity of reported near misses.
Ensures appropriate pre-task planning program in used in the territory. Job Safety Analysis and Take 10 for Safety Cards are being used prior to tasks taking place and employees are trained on their use.
Assist RSMs in developing their training and audit schedule of the territory based on leading and lagging metrics of the group.
Assist Territory leadership in addressing tolerance and identifying gaps/strengths within the territory.
Requirements:
Education & Experience:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience plus 10+ years of safety experience
Strong leadership skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of Safety regulations and compliance
ASP, CSP or CIH required
Physical Demands:
Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job. Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, performing work in extreme weather conditions including rain, wind or excessive temperatures and/or night and weekend work. All duties must be performed according to Sunbelt’s safety policies and guidelines. Reasonable accommodations may be made to comply with ADA/ADAAA.

Base Pay Range: $144,000.00 - 198,000.00Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
